Castrated or Non-Existent?

Last October, the test was the heterodoxy on the gay marriage issue. On the one hand, the pro-gay marriage Fr. Massingale got near unlimited space to blather on in "our" Catholic Herald...but in the other hand he was was suddenly canceled when he was scheduled to offer his tripe at St. John Vianney Parish in Brookfield (recently given new, if only temporary, leadership).

Now His Excellency, the chief teacher and guardian of orthodoxy in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, has another chance to prove what he's got.

Thanks to Fr. Bob Wilde's, wild, wild west side university, we will soon get to see if Archbishop Dolan has the courage to do what other bishops have done, and prevent the atrocity of a supposedly "Catholic" University putting on THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES.

To help provide vertabrae for His Excellency's backbone, every faithful Catholic should do two things: Write a letter to Fr. Bob Wilde-side, with a copy to His Excellency; and a separate letter to His Excellency with a copy to Fr. Wilde. Paper copies are better than e-mail.

Here are the addresses:

The Most Reverend Timothy M. Dolan
Archdiocese of Milwaukee
P. O. Box 070912
Milwaukee, WI 53207-0912

Fr. Robert Wilde, S.J.
Office of the President
P. O. Box 1881
Milwaukee, WI 53201-1881

I offer all of this with no real hope that anything will really be done by the feminist powers that be at the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Please do write.

Mike -

Wilde is really spelled Wild.

We'll see how this plays out. Look for a press release from headquarters soon.

The monologues were already held at MU I believe in 2002-2003. Also, this event is now sponsored as an academic event, not a university event, so the univeristy views this as a forum for discussion. The university has already clearly stated that it does not condone this, but because it is being sponsored by the Philosophy Department (and HOnors program), it is acceptable.

So... not to be a downer, but I repeat the above sentiment: "don't hold your breath."

Hello Mike,

I saw a post from Dec. 2006. The post was in regards to Father Chuck at St. Mary in Hales Corner. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, however I can not pass over your post without letting you know that Father Chuck is a very kind and Catholic man. Father Chuck has touched my life in such a spiritual way that I would not be able to put it into words. Father Chuck is a priest that thinks about Jesus, the Church, and the people of the Church. Without Christ, the Church, or the people that go to Church. The Catholic religion would not excist, furthermore, if Father Chuck was not as good a priest as he is I probably would never have become Catholic, for it was through one of Fr. Chuck's homily's that I was inspired to become a faithfully comfirmed Catholic.

God Bless you, and God Bless Fr. Chuck.

Well...everyone has to stop tampering with Scripture...liberal priests and hero Popes. Modern biblical scholarship is not all bad but does have the bad habit of seeing some scriptures as culturally determined.

Gays therefore feel free to eliminate Romans chapter one.....but Pope John Paul II felt free also to not quote Romans 13:4 at all in his campaign to overcome the death penalty and it is the pivotal passage on that issue.

In Evangelium Vitae in section 39 on the death penalty, he omits to tell the reader that he is omitting the "shedding of blood" passage within Genesis 9:5-6 which he is quoting on his side otherwise. Simply go to section 40 of EV and one sees his reason....he felt that some violence in the OT was cultural backwardness rather than ordered by God.

Don't complain about gays twisting or voiding scriptures if you will be silent when a Pope does the same thing on a different issue.

John Paul also did the same thing on husband headship which has 6 NT passages supporting it and he only quoted one, Ephesians, because that one was susceptible to his view that mutual subjection only applies now....his view was denounced in section 74 in 1930's Casti Cannubii....but who's reading.
It is not only liberals who distort or void scriptures on their own behalf. These things happen because we are a silent culture with no healthy venues for constructive criticism of leaders.

What we needed at Rome was a Cardinal who could walk up to John Paul and challenge him on EV's slanting of the death penalty issue and on husband headship in his other works (Dignitatem Mulieris, sect.24, par.3&4 and and the Theology of the Body section 89.3-4). But we have no such Cardinal.
