Some good advice.

Sorry, holiday week. That means it was pretty slow among the oddball crowd of archdiocesan bureaucracy.

Thanks to Diogenes, I saw great...let me say that again, GREAT...advice for every Catholic bishop, local or otherwise. hehehehe.

Restating an article in the Wall Street Journal:

Last month several dozen top Catholic theologians crowded into a Vatican chapel for 7:30 a.m. mass with Benedict.

The pontiff gave pointed marching orders:"Speaking just to find applause or to tell people what they want to hear ... is like prostitution," he told the theologians, according to a transcript. "Don't look for applause, but look to obey the truth."

Emphasis mine!

Hmmmm? Who could this be directed at??????

P.S. There are still rumblings on the auxiliary bishop front. (I thought you priests weren't supposed to comment about the backround checks?) I must be careful, would not want my free speaking source to clam up too soon. Just remember fathers, parish councils have mouths too. Is there a surprise on offing? Someone not previously handicapped?

Stop blowing hot air around about the auxiliary. The liklier scenario is TD moves first, so his successor isn't stuck with his choice. However, he might very well end up having an aux. who would work fine with TD's successor in waiting....

By the by, yes parish councils have some say, but not as much as you would think....Rome does what Rome wants to do.

P.S. Many people think you are a priest, Michael with an axe to grind. Who are you REALLY????

"Hot air"? Hmmm.

You misread my statement about parish councils. At least one the priests in this area is speaking pretty freely about the backround check process to his parish council.
It was my understanding that this was supposed to be a secret process.

As Who am I? Shall I wax philosophical? Who are any of us, REALLY? LOL. Or should I be more retro...Only the Shadow knows! (listen for the eery whistle sound effect...)

Isn't it ironic that the question is posed by someone who posts anonymously?

Mike (really!)

It is not hot air. It will happen. And, by the way, the name I saw would be terrific and IS on the handicapped list! Can't say who, because you are right, it is supposed to be confidential. The papal nuncio offers all kinds of threats of punishment in the letter.

Fr. Mike! It is time that you stop bashing the Church that you claim to love. At times it is difficult to know whether we are reading your Blog or listening to the Bishop's meeting on EWTN. Easy to be a Monday morning quarterback!

Sometimes, I am also struck by the irony of "faithful catholics" bashing the Church as much some do. Why are liberals called dissidents and conservatives called faithful? Isn't it a bit like Charlie Sykes whining when Republicans are bashed and then turning around and bashing Democrats?
Although, I have to say "Fr.Mike" is a lot tamer than many others! It is why I read his blog.

I guess I can say thank you to te poster immediately above.

But, as to "Fr. Mike"...

Very wrong. It would really surprise the others in the house.

Nice try though.

(Just plain old) Mike
